Farley New Build, Scottish Highlands

UK Hempcrete were engaged to assist with the technical design and hempcrete installation for this unique new build family home. The most striking element of this project are the gothic style arched glulam primary roof trusses, which have been left exposed internally to great effect. To aid in reducing the construction time, we specified an interior layer of precast hempcrete blocks, with a generous outer layer of cast hempcrete. This hybrid system allows for the immediate lime plastering of the interior hempcrete walls, removing the need to wait for the hempcrete to dry, as with the site cast option.

Established in 2019, our in-house design studio, Studio Bio, developed out of an industry demand for designers with a specialist knowledge of bio-based construction and detailing.
